Default Few questions regarding ebay.

aight guys, help me understand this. i am new to ebay. i have sold 2 things and have 2 positive reviews. This week i posted some items for sale. For some reasons, instead of bidding on the item people are sending me emails to buy them off line (instead of ebay).

a wierd example-
i have an item for sale with reserve of 400$. the item is currently at 305$, a guy emails me and offers me 525$. I don't understand, would he not be better just bidding on the item and as last resort trying to buy it from me. Am i getting scammed by some con artist?

please advise, this is beyond my understanding since it's too new to me.

Probably.

Tell him to bid for it, otherwise no deal

Maybe he doesn't want to wait until the auction is over ..... how much do you really think it is worth ??

it's worth more than 525$, but the auction is only up to 305$ now. It ends tomorrow. Just seems a bit shady...
thanks guys.

Just let it run - tell the guy to put his max bid in - it will bid up for him and he might get it cheaper. Soemtimes deals are done offline and you can end the auction early

well it's not bitching, it's asking for advice, so I have no grounds to ban the account. Oh well, there's still a whole day for me to find excitement.

Oh, it didn't piss me off or anything. This just seems like a weird place to ask that kind of question.

To answer the question, either the person wants to get whatever you're selling before the auction ends, as someone else mentioned, or perhaps he/she wanted to scam you and do not want you to be able to report it to eBay.

I haven't sold anything on eBay before myself, a friend of me who does says that the price of auctions usually go up very quickly on the final hours of the auction. You've probably seen that yourself in your previous auctions.
