Update...New estimate is a bit higher than the one I was given last Thursday. 
Besides the assorted front bumper-related stuff, rad, and a/c-related stuff, they'll replace the intake...Half of it is the engine and labour.
I keep trying to remind myself that I'm "lucky"

That's silly IMO. Since when do couples have to have all the same interests? Good of you to be diplomatic though!
