what's the overall assessment of weather these days? I heard that it was cooler this summer than it has been in the past. every time i go there in the summer, i get killed by mosquitos, and the humidity kicks my ass.

Not too much problem with mosquitos at the moment .... but we have pretty good screens on all of our doors and windows at home ..... we have a place up in Minakami (north part of Gunma) which is over a stream ... I am sure that will be heaving with mosquitos at the moment, but I haven't been up there for about a month now ....
