You never know what you're missing until you transplant yourself somewhere, Andy. I had that wanderlust for years and sent myself out to the left coast for a while.

That said, I've found that it really doesn't matter where you are. In fact, it matters less now than ever. What matters is your friends and what you do with your life.

(sorry, feeling a little blue this evening for no apparent reason. well, work's bustin' my a$$ a little)

yeah, DC area is quite shitty. As Tom Clancy described it in one of his books, living inside the beltway eats away at your very soul. I do miss my friends from over there, but I have made some invaluable friends since I moved here as well.

And I don't have those damn DC vibes eating at my soul anymore

"Whereever you go... there you are."

I don't miss Toronto and SW Ontario. I do miss the people but I've met lots of great new friends and the old friends keep in touch. Re Ontario: Beautiful places but I don't miss them... with one exception... where I spent my summers growing up... Georgian Bay.

Quoting "Back to the Future" or "Buckaroo Banzai"? I've had the joy of living all over the US, and though I have my favorites, the only place I didn't enjoy was LA. Outside of LA, I could enjoy SoCal, but not Los Alamitos

Buckaroo B of couse... Buckaroo B is one of my favourites!

I enjoy NCal more than SoCal in general but I really like the San Diego area.
