Had a great time with him. It was just what we all needed. He's feeling like he had a dose of familiarity and we had him bumping around the house like old times. It was really great. He got back to SD last night around midnight.

Hey speaking of him reminds me... he just broke his PC so he bought one of the new $200 PCs that run Lindows. I thought that was interesting.

 

Yeah...we're talking about buying a PC next year to look into the feasiblity of linux as a desktop. Microsoft is going to shoot themselves in the foot with all this licensing crap they keep pulling. Everyone's getting peeved and starting to look into other solutions.

 

The same Microtel PC is offered (by walmart.com) at $200 with Lindows and $300 With XP.

Lindows runs most MS stuff pretty well.

Gates is a thief.

You may not get it. He is fairly determined (I heard this today) to put XP on immediately. I'm disappointed too since I was hoping to get some lindows feedback,

He said it was primarily due to the little gltiches noted in reports he'd read... like the "open" and "save" icons not working. you have to select "file" "open" etc. That would bug me too.
