Looking very much like we will get a SAAB convertible for now ..... but with the agreement that we WILL be replacing the S2000 with another S2000 once the situation allows (like having a second parking space and enough free cash to make the purchase)

Very well, James. I wish I'd been able to make a home stateside for your S.

Hmm... Saab, eh? Well, two people I know with 9-series convertibles love them, but overall Saabs have not been the most reliable cars around these parts. Usually electrical gremlins.

I would have liked to have known that the S was going to a good home (in fact I would have liked to keep it ) but I worked out that it was going to cost something like US$8-9,000 to ship it to HK with the taxes etc.

I had a SAAB in HK before, the only trouble I had with that was the petrol tank splitting

I am still open to other thoughts though. I guess a lot will depend on how much I get for the S and what prices are like in HK .....

I'm not sure that there's much too compare the Saab with, James. I think others of that ilk are way more $$. You might have a look at a C-class Volvo (I think they're making a convt...) Possibly a used Bimmer 5-series convt. or maybe a new 3-series might price out close.

3 series convt is the only other of a similar ilk, but they are a lot more expensive in HK than the SAAB. Convt is not essential, just preferable, so I could be swayed by something else if I come across a lovely car that I hadn't considered before .... I'm going to go into it with an open mind and see what takes my fancy

I'll see if I can come up with some other ideas, James.

Oh, and convt is essential, James. Don't try to BS me!

The only reason that I said it wasn't essential is because I have seen a non-convertible that I am interested in ..... Ford Escort Cosworth ...... rather "fast and furious" but something that I always wanted when I was early 20's in the UK .....
