I love pastry, especially flaky pastry, like lobster tails filled with custard, yum

oh yeah. Now we have a peasant version of zeppole that are potato based and deep fried, very much the same dough as gnocchi but deep fried, and made in large sized ring shapes., they can be sweet or not sweet, made both ways. There is another version that is made from a pastry dough that is sweet with sugar. While I really like them they always give me terrible heartburn, I've had to reduce my fried food intake for a number of years. My mother makes them all the time and they are so hard to resist when they are hot from the fryer. I also like a good cannoli , Buddy Valastro (Cake Boss) brags about having the best cannoli but I know someone that ate his and said they were nothing special, lol.

I don't think the zeppole I had was potato based. Bialy is something that I was curious about never had the chance to try one they always mentioned them on The Soprano's
