I am so f'ing stressed out...
R/T just did a comparison pt the new Z, Mustang Mach I, S2000 hard top, and an AUDI TT. THey scored in that same order, 1st to last place. The Z won by a bit, but the others were only i point apart. What gets me is the gave the S2000 a '3' out of 10 for features & amenities. I am so disgusted by that! What are they looking for?!? Its got all power, leather interior, AM/FM/CD, Digital dash, the best ergonomices in just about any car. I know they always lean toward the new car in these mags, and the 350z is one helluva car ( from what I hear ), but this article was a complete load of CRAP!!! I can only assume that the info on the other cars was way off base too. Here's the funniest part. 0-60: 6.3 seconds HA! 1/4 mile: 14.9 seconds... double HA! and @ 95 MPH.... endlass HA!
this just pisses me off.
BTW congrats on the 350Z purchase. I'd like to hear what you think of it after you've driven it for a while. I'd like to drive one myself, but I have only seen one since there introduction.

-The dash moves up and down with your steering wheel so that there aren't any visual problems for the tach/speedo/oil temp gauge/fuel gauge.
-There is auto down AND auto up for both windows, and the window switches are conveniently placed for least arm movement and comfort.
-The 3 pod gauges on the dash are angled towards you for the least amount of neck movement and at the perfect height.
-Pod 1 has a variety of features such as a digital speedo, stop watch(!), total hours driven, distance till empty, ave mph, ave mpg, rpm point for shift light indicator, and outside temperature. Pod 2 has an oil pressure gauge and Pod 3 has a battery volt meter.
-Seats are comfortable and have good lateral support.
-Car has a rear window wiper which is always a plus. The audio controls are easy to use and the climate control functions are very simple also. I mean this in a way that they are right at your finger tips. If you rest your arm on the shifter, you'll be able to adjust all these without having to lift your arm off of the shifter. Just a little movement of the wrist is all!
-Sound system can be better, but I don't expect many sports cars to have a good sound system.
-The tach is in the middle like a sports car should have

-There are 3 cup holders for all sizes, which is more than there was in my Saab!
-Oh yea, the car has a clock.
I'm looking forward to really examining one.
Zoe: Yeah I read that too. I bought it knowing that the S might be beaten out by the Z but here's the thing... almost 7 seconds to 60mph for the S!! Is that counting starting the car? Feck, it's easy to get in the low 6's and to break 6 all you need is a good launch.
Other thing... he says on the track it drops out of VTEC in tight corners. BullPucks!! WTF... if you drop below 35 yeah but what corner on a track can you NOT go through over 40?!
You right about the "Car and (obviously inept) Driver"
OTOH... he was right about a lot of things and depending on what you think is important in cars, could be right about the order.
What's important to me though would have it S, Z, TT, Stang. Why??? I like small cars, I like ragtops, I like twisties better than straight line, and to me simplicity is elegance. Though... the Z has a ragtop coming in '03.
(Don't rest your arm or hand on the shifter... it's bad for the linkages
)
