This past Wednesday the crew took the maiden voyage on the J-Bone II What a vessel! Twin Cat turbo diesels!
Reports were of HUGE Drum fish being spotted in the Delaware Bay (the other side of Cape May, NJ.). Now last year this trip forgettabout it..it would have been a 4 hour boat ride one way! The J-Bone II did it in just over an hour burning less (albeit smellier) gas.
Its not often we catch what we set out for But my buddy hit it!
The J-Bone 34' Topaz Sportfisherman with full Tuna tower and riggers Captain Jay on the bow is securing the offshore life raft.
Awesome helm with dueling redundant VHF's (redundancy is good!) Autopilot, Navnet split screen RADAR, etc.
from the tower!
The hunt begins!
I love his O face! "HOLY SHIT did I just catch this mamma!"
65 pound Drum caught on 20 pound test and a light stick took about 40 minutes to tire him out! Successfully netted, brought on the boat for pics and released ...sucker was at least 60 years old!
So of course Captain Jay catches another smaller one as we are bringing up the anchor/done for the day!
