I got sideswiped!
I had just gotten in my car, which was parked in front of Pasadena AAA. An old woman pulled out of the AAA parking lot, turned right, and took out my left rear quarter panel and wheel. $785 and nine days. No pics yet. Damnit!

No, actually she's about 75, with poor command of the King's English. She can't drive worth a shit, either. After she hit me, it took her about 10 minutes to park.

Then she comes to my office and wants to give me a check for the entire amount, actually two, one for a penny less than $750, which is the trigger for having to report it to DMV (which I'm going to do), another check for the rest, so her insurance company doesn't have to deal with it. Never mind that we're both Mercury and I've already got an adjuster. Plus she can't speak much English. At this point a figure "screw it" and get a quote from Enterprise for a midsize car with full insurance. I'm going to get a subcompact and waive the insurance, so I'll end up making about enough to cover one hour of my billable time, which is a whole lot less than the time I'll end up spending on this bullshit. Here's the kicker: She wanted me to go to the police station with her and try to undo the police report. I don't think so.
