Standardized tests tell you is how well you take standardized tests. . . which, by a stroke of lunacy (and lobster dinners) are now a part of the American way of life.

I didn't take the SAT either. ACT only. I was already working full time when I took the ACT, and was at the company Christmas part the night before

On a scale of 1-36 I beat my schools average by 6 points I think.

I only took the test because I needed a score on a sheet on my transcript. I was going to community college and they would let me in if I scored a 1.

I never did finish college in any form.

I got a 1050 on the SAT. While I was in the upper 70th percentile for the U.S., I was only in the 40th percentile for my high school.

It didn't matter, for my year, all you needed was a pulse and credit, and you could get into darn near any school you wanted.

It's a nice random hurdle now, but 1975 was the lowest per-capita birth rate in the history of the United States. Schools were hurting.
