I’m going to IKEA either Sunday or Monday to look at new mattresses. Need to replace mine as it’s 14 years old, it’s been flipped and rotated every 6 months but it’s just time to get a new one.
I also just got new bath towels and threw out the old ones / do that every couple years or so.

Getting new frying pans is actually in my short term plans - the ‘non stick’ coating is wearing off.

What brand/sizes did you get?

Wondering if they still serve Swedish meatballs.

Lately I've been buying a few different ones to see which brands and coatings hold up better, so I got a mixture of different pans. I am not sure of the brand names as I mix and matched. I tend to go to places like Homegoods (Homesense in Canada) and see what they have on sale at the time, they tend to bring in bits of different brands and they don't stock the same brand all the time. I kept the spending to under $40 each pan and picked up ones that were on sale, most were around $29 each. I got some with newer rock/mineral coatings. I made sure all of them were pfoa free and teflon free. I like ones with thicker bases but they will always cost more and are harder to find in my price range.

I keep telling my wife not to fry greasy meat products in the pans, things like bacon and sausage seem to kill many of the non-stick coatings faster than normal. I've got some older cast iron pans which are much better for frying bacon and sausage. I think the super hot grease is really hard on non-stick pans ?

I’ve heard/seen great reviews of the Lodge cast iron skillets.
I only need a small pot for single cans of soup, medium size for steaming veggies, and a large one for boiling pasta.
I have a wok , and a couple different sized cookie sheets which aren’t used every day.

I’m also thinking about getting new daily dishes/flatware/glassware as they are at least 25years old.

yeah I bought some Lodge cast iron pans when we stopped at the factory in Tennessee one year. That was a cool place, with a huge retail store at the factory. They have been selling pans that are pre-seasoned, that was always the worst problem with such pans in the past (the seasoning process) but the pre-seasoned ones we got have held up well.

It's the opposite here the cheapest I have seen on farms lately is six dollars a dozen.
