The Banff Springs Hotel is an excellent choice! Before it was bought out by Fairmont, it was part of the CP Hotel chain. Years ago I worked at the Toronto one (the Royal York) and could stay at any property for $30/night! All of the former CP properties are older, beautiful places with great service.
It's pretty pricey. Rooms start at $400/night. Somehow, our travel agent got us a room for only $300/night.

Though come to think of it... I think the mutation may have first come from there... as do most (all) mutations.
