George, my company made a big push for a new report tracking system. Huge expense, but much easier to administer once running, and supposedly a big reduction in paper/printing expenses - no paper trail was involved. So what do we do? Print out a bunch of copies to be signed and archived. No wasted trees in my office

Our phase I site assessment reports include database searches of all known hazardous waster sites within a one mile radius of the subject site. These reports are sometimes 300 pages long. Who in God's green earth cares if there is a leaking underground storage tank 0.85 mile away? Then a client will want 12 copies of the report for absolutely no good reason. Bye, bye, forest.
