Judgement day!
Well some of you
s are up on the saga with our slumlord.
:update:
Today we received a judgment notice from court #1 that the case was transferred out of
in the amount of $1014.00
This makes no sense..according to our attorney, this was an all or nothing small claims type of judgment. We would either be awarded the whole or nothing
The original suit was for over $8000.00 ++ for new heater/crane rental and lawyers fees.
Further nonsensical is why the judgement came from the judge who didnt hear the case??? ...signed by him and everything.
Well at least it is something, The solace is I can imagine the scowl on their cranky faces when they realize they have to spend more than a nickel on their property.
...that and getting to blurt out on the witness stand
Our lawyer questioning me on the stand: How would you describe the general condition of the outside of the property?
Me: In general I would say it is decrepit at best.
Other lawyer :OBJECTION!
Judge to our lawyer: what is the basis of this questioning?
Our lawyer: Your Honor with all due respect ...how they maintain or more realistically how they DO NOT Maintain their properties is PARAMOUNT to this entire proceeding. (I thought this was dead on/good!)
Judge: sustained!
Oh well

true, but its only a little over 10% of the original claim

..Our lawyer in his closing even dug up a great precedent case. I thought it was looking good.
