Default Jupiter Saturn Great Conjunction

Jupiter and Saturn only separated 0.1° tonight. Closest since 1226.

So neat! Of course it's supposed to be cloudy and rainy here, but they've been wrong once or twice before.

We saw it just now through the small telescope. 80x Spectacular ! We saw the rings of Saturn and the bands and four of the moons of Jupiter. What a treat. I should have dragged out the big scope, but it would have been a lot of work. The two planets are separated by the apparent distance of 1/5 of the diameter of the moon, 0.1°.

Didn't get to see it but I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't get back to sleep. I went out for a smoke and saw a shooting star!

I heard on the radio that since the pandemic there's been quite an increase in amateur astronomy

It was a very uneventful view from here, unfortunately.

Is your view of the southwest horizon blocked? We just barely saw it above the Verdugos.
