IMO, that's exactly why CuJo has a grand total of 0 stanley cup rings. He lacks the edge the Roy, Belfour and Brodeur (among others) have/had. Rather than view it as a setback, he views it as an insult. The great goaltenders would eat the paycut, go play for an AHL team, or take a performance-clause loaded contract and try to win it all, just to prove a point.

Toronto should have beaten Carolina in 2002. A lot of other teams should have as well, but didn't, for the same reason. The goalie has to step up and bring his A game every night. CuJo could have made a name for himself then, but got outplayed by Irbe in several games.
