To ensure we Americans never offend anyone -- particularly fanatics
intent
on killing us -- airport screeners are not allowed to profile
people.
They will, however, continue to perform random searches of
80-year-old
women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification,
Secret
Service agents who are members of the President's security detail,
and
85-year old Congressmen with metal hips.
Let's pause a moment and take the following test...
In 1972, 11 Israeli athletes were killed at the Munich Olympics

I agree. It's f*cking bullshit. I mean these terrorists were using our own system against us in obtaining Visas, money transfers and learning to fly. They exploited our weaknesses, lack of checks and balances and our complacency. Now we are using our system to help them keep a low profile and under our security radar. I say, get your head out of your ass.
YOu think the FBI and law enforcement catch criminals by random searches? Hell no, they use statistics, experience and intuition to predict their next move! They have to stay one step ahead. ANd that's how they operate. All this does is keep security people from doing their job because of some whiny people.
Let's face it, alot of people in this country today are just too selfish or too wrapped up in their own lives & problems to look at the big picture. In fact, most take what they have for granted. Most people around the world can only dream of being able to do what we do here, to be able to make a better life for one's self and his/her family. Why do you think people come HERE for opportunity and not south america or southeast asia?!? We have it so good here and people don't even realize it. We don't have to worry about our community being bombed, or stepping on a land mine on the way out get the mail or be afraid of getting killed by some warlord because we didn't help him assassinate a rival.
But in order to have that freedom we must protect it. Just as I would be willing to protect my friends, family and car (gotta have priorities
) from thieves and murders, we, too, should protect the freedoms we have from those who threaten them. I'm not saying we should round up all the immigrants (and that includes me, by the way) and check them one by one to see if they're a threat. I'm just saying we HAVE to do something. ALL of us have to do something; to do our part.
If my country needs me to take up arms against somebody in a foreign land so that my fellow americans won't have planes flown in their buildings, that's perfectly fine by me. If my country wants me to step outside of line at the airport for a few moments to make sure I don't have a bomb so that they can make sure that my fellow passengers and I are safe, then I'll do it. I get so pissed off when people complain about having to wait so long in the airport for their flight. Frankly, I don't care about the lines. I'd rather wait 6 hrs for a flight than be in the air right away only to be shoved into the back of the plane w/ the other passengers at knife-point and left to wonder 'Am I going to die?' as my plane goes careening toward a populated metropolitan area. Don't be so selfish! Look at BIG PICTURE! We all need to do our part. Especially if all that is asked of us is tolerance.
Frankly, I'm just sick of this 'Not in my backyard!' and 'ME FIRST' mentality that has plagued this country. That's the kind of isolationist mentality that pulled us in the 1st World War. I see more and more people around who would not fight or be afraid to fight for their country but have no problem sending someone else to do the job. All the while those same people are out shopping, eating at restaurants, mowing their lawns and washing their cars while other people who believe in their freedom and want to protect it are out there dying just so those cowards can have their coffee and krispy-kremes in the morning. All I'm saying is that we need to take responsibility for what we have and what we need. Freedom comes with responsibility-protecting it is one of them. How important is your Freedom and Persuit of Happiness to you?
Sorry, I'll get off my soap box. I hope I didn't offend anybody and if I did I'm sorry.
The only people I can see who would be offended by this would be those selfish people. If that's the case, GOOD! Because I love MY country and you're keeping it from being the best it could be.

redhead is right.
good post carlo
, even though it is off topic for the corner. is that possible?
If you want to share it with the rest of the community I'll copy it to current events (I know how your PPD post time limits prevent that kinda thing
), but if you guys want to keep it between friends in here I'm down with that too.

Thanks guys. I guess it was something I had been thinking about for a while.
GEEEZ, Brian!!! Look what you made me do!!!!
Josh,
Yeah, it was a little 'Off-topic' for the corner (wrap you mind around that
). You can do what you want with it. It's fine by me
. It was just an opinion/observation I've had for the longest time.
