First off...I have absolutely no problem with piercings or tattoos that are done well. Not by some conservative definition of artistic...but done with obvious skill or self-expression.
That said, I have no tattoos or piercings and don't see it happening in the near future. I've been contemplating a tattoo off and on for several years, but don't want one bad enough to do it yet.
THAT said, WTF do lawmakers think they're getting into trying to legislate the legality of such things? I can understand them wanting to legislate that these things be done in an environment that is healthy so as not to further risk blood related illnesses or the spread of other diseases...but to mandate what a person is allowed to do with their own body?!
I guess if a strong enough linkage could be drawn between such "mods" and the rise in unemployment or increase in transmission of diseases then MAYBE I could see a reason for lawmakers to get involved...but no such linkage has EVER been effectively demonstrated.
Besides, aren't there enough poorly enforced laws on the books already? How 'bout the lawmakers focus on going back over their previous legislation and cleaning it up rather than building off the current shaky foundation to create more frivolous laws?
All that being said, piercings on a woman can be SO attractive...
