Hey Jack,

Filing is pretty low-cost (free, I'm not sure about). I was talking about tax prep... The Intuit software, TurboTax, is most assuredly not free. Peckerheads... they've not put this frikkin' software activation system in place that prevents me from running the thing on multiple boxes. PISSES ME OFF!!! My last year using them.

To add insult to injury, they play the frikkin rebate scam. You have to get the receipts and certain corners of the box all packaged up right or you don't get your rebates. What a waste of my time.

I now officially hate the way the software industry is going. I want to cut these marketing bozos into little corners and send their little bits into Intuit for rebates.

GRRRRRRRRRR

Ah I see what you mean. Tax preping is pretty straightforward for me this year, so I just do it by hand (single, no house...). Next year it gets a wee bit more complicated...

You can only use the software on one computer? That's pretty ridiculous. I remember some software that only works when you have some sort of device in your parallel port, and I thought that was pretty stupid.

I used Turbo Tax for the web. E-file and direct deposit for the return. Total cost was around $20 for Federal (we don't have state tax).

guys! Sorry for the weekend absence, but Kelly was writing reports on my comp. at home since we got snowed in...I'm the only guy in the office today....oh well....

Digging out Kelly's car was actually a joy with 30" on the ground...her S60 AWD was better than a tank...it baffled all the SUV owners

Maybe I'll get a Carrera 4 instead of an S2000.....

Jim, folks.

Jack, actually they play some games with the license... You can install/activate it on multiple machines, but you can only print/file from one machine (the one that you "activate" first). Naturally, that machine has to be your primary machine. Well FVCK, I want to do all the work at home, but print at work. Last years' return could be saved into PDF format, and that was fine.

So, 1) I have to install and activate first on my work machine (which I never had any intention of doing), and 2) I can't even start using the software until I do that, and 3) NOBODY can start using this software on a machine that doesn't have web access. At least Microsoft gives you a month to activate.

It just pisses me off, that's all. If I pay for the software (and, of course, I did), I damn well should be able to use it however I please. Fockers! I'll never use this software again.
