That was more of a whale's tail than a picnic table, James, but I could see it.

I always thought of it as more of a bbq grille than a picnic table...

With that air-cooled flat-6... yeah, a BBQ it is!

The whale tail was on the Ford Sierra/Escort Cosworth, did you get those in the US??

It looks like an open hatchback to me.

I don't remember ever seeing one of those over here, James.

I think these were probably Euro only Charlie ..... 2 litre turbo charged monsters.

These were the most stolen cars in the UK for a while. Virtually impossible to insure unless you were 55 years old, lived in the middle of knowhere, kept the car locked in a bomb shelter and drove less than 15 miles a year in it

We never got the Escort, but we got the Sierra here as the Merkur XR4Ti or something like that...

We had the XR4i as well. But I think that was a 2.8 litre fuel injected engine. Nothing like the power of the Cosworth .....

We never got the Cosworth version here and the Escort we got in the states in every way was a piece of crap rather than the pretty sweet one you had in Europe or elsewhere in the world...

I guess the fact that you guys all want cars that are great on a drag strip but don't worry about them going round corners was the reason for not producing them over there .....
