Public schools are funded by county and state funds. And no local schools have closed in Miami......
First: There are tons of now unfunded Federal mandates that schools have to meet. That funding is becoming less and less. Moreover, schools in poorer neighborhoods get quite a bit more Federal funding than those in middle-class and affluent neighborhoods. . . most of this is leftovers from Johnson's Great Society programs.

Second:
I don't know what is worse the job Bush has done or the obsession this Jason guy has with Bush.
(Full Disclosure: Jason is in my immediate group, and we meet about once a month - nice guy.) It's simple: every Californian should be outraged at how the Republican party and it's Federal mandates have screwed us. First, Enron (and the cover-up). Then, unfunded Federal mandates. Then, instituting open border policies WITH more unfunded Federal mandates to secure them. Then, there was the recall. Then, the Special Election. Add to it the Slash-and-Burn job that Jeb Bush's former budget secretary pulled under the current Schwarzeneggar administration.

Add all of THAT to the litany of unethical Constitution-side-stepping, and yeah, I can kinda see how a dude would be upset.

The only kicker is, we (Jason and I) live in the Bay Area; one of the most Liberal places in the U.S. if not the World. If you're gonna take umbrage with a man's obsession, it might be on the point that in his immediate area, he's preaching to the converted. Dunno.

"The Attorney General of the United States, Alberto Gonzalez testified before the senate about the domestic spying program. But first there was a big fight about whether or not to place him under oath. Ultimately they decided not to place him under oath. See, baseball players, they have to be under oath. But the attorney general, no." --Jay Leno
