Look at the SUN!
Actually a #4 Neutral Density Filter, which cuts the light down to 1/10,000, works fine, also. However, #4s don't render correct color values, as do #5s. I have four #4s from the old days, but I never use them anymore. I lend them to friends for solar eclipses that are visible as partial in LA.
Sure, Mom, we'll take the LX200 out on the front lawn and look at the sun with the big #5 ND Filter. You'll see sunspots the size of pennies. If I get my Hydrogen-Alpha setup, you can see hydrogen element views -- very cool. You may even see a prominence -- a solar flare.
