Default Math: I'm a dummy

I have to take a placement test for College right?

What the hell is this:

-3 [ 2 1 ( 3 1 ) ]
-- [ -- (minus) - ( -- (minus)-- ) ]
5 [ 3 2 ( 4 2 ) ]

Imagine the [ is one huge [ and the ( is one huge (

crap- it won't work

Anyhow this is what it reads:

negative 3/5ths outside [ 2/3rds minus half next to ( 3/4ths minus 1/2) ]

Division
Addition

What is the problem with the operands in it or is that the way the problem is present to you ?

-3/5 (2/3 - 1/2(1/4))
-3/5 (2/3 - 1/8)
-3/5 (13/24)

oh, but you asked what it was, not the reduction. It's a mathematical expression!

uh yeah if 39 was one of the answers.

-1/40
-3/5
-17/40
-13/40

and No, I have no clue how fractions work. They are divided numbers that nobody cares about and should be banished from the world forever. If you can't make one whole number, screw it.

Looks like this:

-3/5[ 2/3 - 1/2(3/4 - 1/2)]
