Default mom must be heartbroken

Took the fam to NYC this weekend and got abused as a Red Sox fan at Yankee Stadium, but it was interesting being there. Wow, what a place. It's too bad it's filled with New Yorkers.

Mom... you must be beside yourself.

If it makes any difference to you, the NY fans gave Suzuki-san a HUGE welcome to his first home game.

I think we won that game but you beat us in the next two. Last time I went to a Yankees Red Sox game I think that there were more BoSox fans there than Yankees fans.

The Dodgers just beat the Giants three straight in San Francisco to erase a three game lead.

Hi guys!

Mom, great to hear from you, and glad you're taking this so well. I know you were an Ichiro fan, but I do hear you. All is (mostly) well with the family. Our trip to NYC last weekend was fun, but my solitary, few days at the beach (we have a place in Old Orchard Beach, Maine) was far better.

s2ko, that definitely wasn't the case last Friday. Yup, Yanks did win, but there were very few Boston fans. I was both surprised and a bit amused at the continued animosity New Yorkers have for Boston. The ending cheers of (Boston Sucks) were lots of fun, but not particularly good sportsmanship. The following two games on Saturday and Sunday were Boston wins, and they were terrific games. We weren't in the stadium, but I would've enjoyed a little in-your-facemanship with the NY folks.

Have to tell you... I'm done with NYC. The subway is awesome, and getting around is therefore pretty easy... but the city is just oppressive in many ways. I know we were doing lots of visitor stuff, but it's just too much. I grew up in New York, but I don't miss it. Yankee stadium is a real gem, though. Wow! I don't know of many (any??) other place in the country that could support a super-stadium like that (and fill the damn thing). Just amazing. Tribute to the house of Ruth. Really.
