I think there's two categories of people, and I think we should make a distinction. There are people who are ignorant because they lack experience, and then there are people who refuse to (or simply can't) learn.
Ignorance sometimes looks like a lack of common sense, but sometimes that's not fair. Look at the folks out there who let their stockbrokers talk them into using their company stock as collateral for their margin accounts. Some of these folks are very smart people who just lack the experience to see the downside (until after the fact, that is
).
Then there's the moron category, most of whom I just pity.
It's the people who should know better who I reserve my loathing for: CEOs ripping off their companies at the employees' expense; folks who distract themselves excessively and cause accidents. People who hide their mistakes, and by not fessing up waste my time!
