JUAN update:

Just got off the phone with the claims adjuster (they are such honest, upfront, forthright folks, don't ya think ) and I am draggin info out of him.

From what I have gathered talking to several different people, the car has a unibody (which is not a unibody, but actually a front part and a back part) and it also has lower rails (the frame sort of as I understand)

Anyway, the rear body panel (part of the "unibody") had to be replaced. This mean drilling out spot welds and replacing and welding back . ALSO...the lower rails were slighly askew, not kinked, but again doesn't sound good to me. Had to put on body thingy and align back up with sonar (spelling?).

Anyway, Car is ready to pick up tomorrow or Monday (which is a week early).

I am so suspicious.... I trust no one! Of course I am not signing anything or anything like that when I pick it up. I am still working on the diminished value claim with them etc.

So, what are your thoughts?

 

take it to a honda dealership or a trusted mechanic and have them give it a good looking over...especially if ANYTHING feels funny when you get it back

 

If the handling feels even a tiny bit unusual, then take it back.

Mike that does look similar. Juan's body was crushed further in as it was hit a bit higher than that. No exhaust problems for me. Glad to hear all is well with you then. That gives me a bit of hope.

I am so anal, nothing will be signed until I am 199% sure all is as I want it. I told insurance dude that I will pick up tomorrow (I am going out of state for the weekend) and see how it drives. Probably keep for a week and then let him know what I think by then. He said no problem. We have several other things to settle on before this is all said and done, so I got some time for sure. I do know the insurance company guarantees this bodyshop's work, so I have that on my side. And the bodyshop has a great rep. We will see.

I still cannot believe this has happened. I was just sitting at a red light. I mean.....damn.

Well, I am leaving to pick up Juan in about 30 minutes. I picked him up Monday....and.....well....he was not quite healed up. He better be today or I might have to kick some ass!
