I'm shocked. She's a delightful and lovely woman. That's not what it's all about!
I do realize that's destined to fail, so I'll be inviting RC up too.
Thanks Mike.
I'm cutting and pasting and adding to what I said on pg 1 when George asked the same thing. So perspective and updates in bold.
I left off the Sport pack. Some of the purists will object to the decision but frankly the Sport pack is too extreme for me.
The car *without* the SP is more extreme than the S2000 ... the SP stiffens up the car so much it rattled by fillings out just driving around Los Gatos.
I didn't need the Touring but it's desirable for the sound and the electric windows are lighter than hand crank for the purists. :-) I would however recommend the TP for the noise reduction.
Stock radio is better than the 2001 S2000 stock but can't say for newer cars. 4 Blaupl speakers make pretty good sound.
Different in my perspective?... Hmmm. Well it's not night and day. There are things in common. This car is high revving (8500 red) and handles well. Slightly better handling in normal driving with no power steering but I haven't found the limit on cornering yet though I pushed it pretty hard inthe test drives. I'm anticipating a wet-your-pants cornering ability. I think there's a parking lot in my near future.
Shift points are very similar and though I haven't played too much ('bedding in' period) the VVT-i (Toyota VTEC) seems to be similar in characteristics to VTEC. I.e. FUN.
Interior is pleasing only to a Spartan. Your feet are on the bare chassis, and your passenger is 3 inches from you. Getting in and out is fine if your a Walenda. The interior of the Elise is to the interior of the S2000, what the interior of the S2000 is to the SLK.
No luggage space. I reckon you could fit 12 basketballs in the trunk if they were all fully deflated. The seats are good but don't recline adjust and the passenger seat doesn't move at all, the car is leaks a bit, the top is not automatic and in fact has to be rolled up and stowed in the boot by hand. The plastic body is *nearly* up to a metal body but not as smooth and the many contours and vents make washing a bitch. AC is not as good as the S, BUT it's fantastic to drive. FANTASTIC.
The thing it has common the most with the S2000 is that it makes me smile all the time.
I think the S is the best all 'round car I will ever own but I'm VERY glad to be the owner of this gem. Will know in the next year if this is a car I'll keep forever. Could be.

Dear Lord,
If it be your will, give me enough cashola so that I may liberate Jed's S into the confines of my garage. If it be your will. Amen.

I'd love it if a friend gave it a happy home. I'm asking around right now but if that fails I'm parking near the High School with a "For Sale" sign on it... it's nearly graduation time.
