kitties don't need cleaning up after, just kick them outside and then they bring you home presents in the form of dead rodents. nothing could be sweeter.

Not really... make up a potting mixture of sphagnum moss, potting soil, a kitten and some vermiculite and plant your ochid. Be sure not to use too small of a pot or the orchid will get potbound.

After that it's just a weekly water and a new kitten after every bloom (usually about once per year).

In truth you don't need a *whole* kitten for a small orchid. I've sometimes used amputations to keep the rest fresh for later.
