Well, you know. . . if someone puts chewing gum in your locks, might I reccommend a bed sheet with shoe polish stating "I assure you, we're still open!!!"

You cannot believe how many times I just tried to type 'open,' it's gonna be a long day.

How do you give a raise to your CEO when you have an $70-80 million shortfall?

From the 2 articles:

$2.04 billion 2006/7 school year budget
178,000 students.

Roughly $11,460 per kid.

Guessing that there are 30 kids in each, that is about $343,800 per classroom.

I'd really like to know out of the $11,460 per kid, how much of that is taken by admin costs, teacher salary (benefits/retirement etc) and how much of that money actually is used to purchase EDUCATIONAL ITEMS (books/computers and the like).

Less and less every year. Class sizes are absurd in Philadelphia (as are most inner city districts) We have some teachers who work here part time, who have 35+ kids in their classes with NO AID or assistant. ITs not even sitting anymore.
