And what would you be testing, wick? I have this old bottle of champagne that's been sitting in a mildewy closet for 6 years. Would you like it?

Les, yes. You can reinstall your avatar by going to the options (or profile) pulldown -- can't remember which.

You've only lost it temporarily. What you can't have anymore is a sig.

Seems that you still have your badges though.

I don't own a credit card.....a personal choice....I don't really need one at this point in my life....some people tell me that's ridiculous but...it's my choice

Really? How do you travel, Les? I *hate* cash. I always use a card when I can.

If you do this to keep you out of trouble, then I certainly understand. I've had many friends and family members who've been sucked in by the credit cards. Better to avoid temptation.

Well the difference between Canada and the US from what I have seen is that you seem to have one card that is both a debit card and a credit card. We have EITHER a debit card or a credit card. I honestly like the concept of yours better....but also fear for those who aren't responsible enough to have one....you know?

When I have to book trips and such I have just used my mother's credit card and then just written her a cheque.

Well, I'm not sure the concepts are different in the US, Les, but I think the trick is to avoid using the "credit" feature of credit cards. They bone you bad with interest rates. I've never carried a balance on my cards, except where I've done so intentionally when they offer promotional 0% or some such nonsense. I actually bought my wife's car with money I borrowed from a credit card, but I paid it back in full (and used money from a "real" loan) after a few months when they were about to commence the boning.

In recent years, some of the credit companies have been giving something back. This is where I really like my card(s). One of my cards pays back a percentage of gas money. With Sunoco 94 at $2.15/gallon this week, it's helpful. Our primary card is associated with Marriott hotels, and we get "points" for ever purchase. Those points are worth real money to us on our travel adventures.

Best wishes to you and Mitch, Les!
