Top Gear in the UK did a test to see how fast you had to be travelling for the speed cameras not to be able to get a picture of you .......
At 135mph the camera worked ..... at 178mph the camera didn't even notice the car go past !!!
So now we know what speeds are safe to travel at in the UK ...

A guy here on a bike went through the tunnel (limit is 80kms) doing 280kms!!!!!!
Speed camera's couldn't pick him up but the security video did, unfortunately for the cops it only shows front on pictures and bikes didn't have front plates then.

This information has been sent by someone who works for Citylink on
the locations of Fixed and Elapsed Time Speed Cameras around
Melbourne, use this information at your own discretion.
Most important are the Speed & Red Light Combination Camera types:
- Corner Orrong Road & Dandenong Road Caulfield
- Alexandra Parade & Smith Street Fitzroy - just before Eastern Freeway
- Corner Stud Road & Wellington Road Rowville
The Red Light Camera on Swan St Bridge & Alexander Avenue opposite
Myer Music Bowl is now repaired.
New permanent speed cameras in Melbourne:
- On the Monash Freeway -
600 metres before entering the tunnel heading into the City.
It is hidden behind an overhead road sign (80kph).
Even though this one is openly publicised by the media & the Government it continues to catch over 700 drivers a day!
Westgate Freeway - Princess Hwy.
- On top of the Westgate Bridge
- Hoppers Crossing overpass
- At the first Werribee exit
- At the Little River exit
- At the Point Cook overpass
- At the Point Wilson overpass
- At Corio, just before you arrive at the Waterslide in Geelong
(Norlane)
Note that the following are Elapsed Time Trigger Cameras:
- They estimate your average driving speed between checkpoints, so slowing down before each overpass will not fool them.
- All these cameras are positioned in both inbound & outbound
lanes and are hard to see.
- If you did 10kph over the speed limit all the way from Melbourne to Geelong, you can expect up to a $125 on each one and the loss of 1 demerit point.
Each camera is able to book vehicles doing even 5kph over the limit:
- Western Ring Road
- Boundary Road - Laverton North
- Calder Freeway - Keilor East
- Western Highway - Ardeer
- Tullamarine Freeway - Tullamarine
- Pascoe Vale Road - Glenroy
- Widford Street - Glenroy
- High Street - Thomastown
And coming soon to a road near you!:
- Eastern Freeway - 5 more cameras
- Monash Freeway - 5 more cameras
- Calder Freeway - 9 more cameras from Keilor to Kyneton
- Hume Highway to Albury - 11 more cameras
Other Highways on the proposed list are:
- Western Highway - Ardeer to Ballarat
- South Gippsland Highway - Seymour to Shepparton
