Krazik and i have spent a great deal of time making special accommodations for your group in specific. Everything from search engine changes, post flood changes, smiles and badges. These changes we've made and the time we've spent doing and maintaining it are for you and you alone.
The Corner, more specifically some members of it, have become "high maintenance" of late. I sorry you all get lumped together like that but if the shoe fits. We depend on you to police yourselves and each-other. If you don't you force us to and then you are all in the spotlight.
When we take action against one of your members (Wicky, alex, presidente, s2kduderick, etc.) and you create a scene in support of them by being disruptive, breaking rules and asking to be banned or making nasty and ultimately time consuming protests (on site and off) then how can one help but to lump you together. I really don't want to deal with that shit.
If you break the rules we will take action against you in the hope that you will stop doing it. Become defiant and you aren't making the situation better. We do our best to reform rather than exile and we exercise a lot a patience when it comes to second (3rd and 4th) chances.
You are right we don't exercise consistency in how we deal with people. Sometimes we send a PM that says "don't", sometimes we suspend accounts and sometimes we outright ban people. We do what we feel is necessary to get the message across and that varies by individual. The more hard assed you are the stiffer the penalty.
When wantone posts something he shouldn't I send him a PM and say "don't post that shit". He respects that and stops. That's all it takes to get him to make a correction. Others just bitch and moan that so and so did it so I should be able to as well. The mock us and make childish protest about how they are victimized and singled out and about how the world is unfair and that we hate them. Those people get my boot. Frankly I don't know you well enough to hate you and in most cases not well enough to even form an opinion.
When a moderator tells you you've stepped over the line just STFU and stop doing what it is you are called for. That's it. You do that then everything is cool. That unfortunately is not how it goes with a significant number of members of this group.
There are more people who use this site that yourselves. Thousands of people with a wide range of interests. When one segment of that population starts to consume a disproportionate amount of our time to manage then we get pissed off. That's not unreasonable.
Some members of this group have labeled you all a "problem child". If you allow some members of your group to run amuck then unfortunately you are guilty by association. They will respond to peer pressure. Keep them in line and this can be turned around. Encourage them and well we get where we are.
I've been a long time supporter of The Corner. I set it up and I've always defended your right to exist. i consider you a club just like all the others and that's why we have gone to the lengths we have to make your club work in the context of a greater whole. Don't repay us by being a nuisance.
