Sonic doesn't really have that great of food IMO but in high school we would go there to hang out and go for the drinks. You could add flavors to your sodas and slushees and being the typical high schoolers we would add a little something extra (rum or alcohol of your choice). They recently opened a Sonic near me in NJ and the place is always packed (policeman directing traffic packed). I think it is because it is a drive in and the fact people up here saw the tv ads for years but couldn't get the food it made the demand higher than usual.

 

We had the same thing here. It lasted about a month or two, and now it's pretty much dead.
