Just an for ya LG ... Ky actually rents lens/equip on occasion for particular needz... good way to checkie a particular lens to see if its what your gonna want

Both great lens from everything that I've seen/heard, I'm biased towards the 35mm on a cropped sensor

exactly... and this is why I suggested 35mm for her D3000... it's not full frame so 35mm is pretty close to a full frame 50mm..


(and why I want one too )

I'm thinking that you are right. I was debating the whole 50mm vs 35mm thing and your reasoning was why I was leaning towards the 35mm.

I could be off, but I think cropped sensor like your D80, my D200 and Monivan's D3000 puts that 35mm at somewhere around 52mm... which is ideally what I want. I can bring the 50mm f1.8 next week and you can shoot with it for a bit to see if you like it.. If I pick up the 35mm I will have both on hand so you can do a comparison...
