Since I usually compare PacNW Beaches to Cali's as their having Rock's vs Sand I took this although there were not many and it was quite warm so I didn't mind overstepping a few EVEN kept one one

 

1st night's campsite
a fREAkin Turkey was behind the fence dividing the privately owned campground and IT ( not sure which is a Female or Male by appearance ? ) came UNDER the wire in hopes to nab a few peanuts

Once n awhile anyway I like cooking other things like Spaghetti or Chili or Tacos etc… not to mention roasting a weenier

 

these cute LG 's around 5 -7 had posed their Beach Babe's in the sand 2 CUTE! Dad's were building a killer Sand Castle for them 2 destroy upon return from the surf!

This was So. Carlsbad State Park Campground right on the PCH very nice even though your UP above overlooking ( IF you opt for that side & get lucky ) not cheap but worth it IMO

Stairs are in several locations down to the beach.



Dohney at Dana Pt. State Beach ALSO has Beach Campsites where your AT sea level butt you need to reserve like 6 mo in advance if you want one of those.

 

Where the pelicans rest (and poop) in La Jolla Cove:

 

Pretty sure that's what would soar over as we were there on the coast and they were quite lg. and look like a pterodactyl

There are tons of birds along the coast, but yeah, the pelicans are the largest and most noticeable. Here are a couple more, probably looking for food:
