The main runway for SNA (John Wayne) is about 300 yards to the right of where he crashed... and there's a lot of flight instruction schools that operate out of SNA... The only crazy part is that they crashed on 405 and didn't hit a single car.

So they did hit a couple cars. Total power loss in the plane. Nobody killed. So there's that.
