CA was great... Aisles of wine in the supermarkets, and I think some beer, but I'm not sure.

No, not the polluting of his mind. That is so right. The fact that a kid has to go out of the country to get some beer -- that's what I'm bitching about.

Don't get me started.
Oh, right... I agree entirely. But I'll try to get you riled up

I read an article about college campuses going dry to curtail binge drinking. Rather than drinking in the dorms and campus housing, they go (usually via car) off campus and drink there... so now you have underage binge drinking and drunk driving! BRILLIANT! Not to mention that on many campuses where drinking is banned, often takes over. You can debate the lesser of two evils (everyone but the drug-war-sponsored government can probably figure that one out), but outlawing something usually has the exact opposite effect.

The UK's solution to binge drinking was to lower the drinking age and get the kids to have a beer in a bar... where they're less likely to get plowed.

We cant even buy and in the same store in PA.
Wisconsin is great in that sense. Gas stations can sell cold beer (including barrels), grocery stores can sell cold beer, liquor, wine. There are no "liquor stores" in Wisconsin. Of course, for some odd reason, you can't buy booze after 9pm or at all on Sunday. Makes you plan ahead.

Michigan is more liberal (24/7 except for a brief span on Sunday), though gas stations can't sell cold beer (warm is ok), but the only way for stores to get their goods is through a handful of monopolized state owned distributors - which adds a significant price premium.

Indiana is pretty messed up. Similar to Michigan... gas stations can only sell cold beer (no barrels)... grocery stores can sell either cold beer or warm beer and liquor/wine. Liquor stores can sell everything.

BTW... when I say gas station, I mean convenience store... most of which are attached to gas pumps

have you guys looked into hotels yet? Just a couple of tidbits. Check prices because to stay in a nice hotel, it can cost you $300+ a night, especially near Carnagie hall.

You can get a great deal if you are willing to stay downtown. Near the Trade center. Subway is right there, and the Millenium Hilton is across the street. Or the Marriot Financial Center, and the Embassy Suites.

they were about 1/2 the price of the midtown hotels.

Hotel Edison is on 47th & Broadway... Old hotel, but clean, and less than $200

Of course if price doesnt matter, Marriot Marquis, Sheraton, Hilton Towers, Westin Times Square, are a few in the heart of Times square
