I don't like black wheels. I *do* like gunmetal. A polished lip is pretty damn slick too, Subby, but I'm just a sucker for a simple wheel. Give me light weight and toughness, and skip the bling, thank you very much.

Yea... now I'm contemplating when I get my next S... which will be Berlina... if I should go with Powdercoating my TE37's gunmetal or buying some black wheels with a polished lip.
Tough choice...

These are my favorite polished/black wheels:

These are a couple of shots of Luke's car with gunmetal. As much as I love these wheels on my Suzuka, I think they're the cat's ass on Berlina:

Those black Kinesises are gorgeous. Gotta admit.

That said, one other advantage of gunmetal (as I found this weekend) is that they hide brake dust really well! You don't have to be anal about keeping them clean. Not sure if gloss black is good in that dept. With a polished rim, I doubt it.

I'm thinking about painting my track wheels ... either glossy black or something similar to those.
Why waste the money making track wheels look good?

Brake dust is why my street wheels are bronze. Hides the mess quite effectively. The stock Miata wheels are my current track wheels (until I find some money and some cheap 15x7 wheels) and the fronts are BLACK from the brake dust.

I just want to practice on em to see how they turn out before I paint my street wheels. I already have the paint/materials and it'd wouldn't really cost me anything.

I prefer a darker bronzish color more than goldish.
