Question for Tokyo James
When we were in Big Bear, we bought a French bottle of Chardonnay from a wine store called "Fat Bastard," (the wine, not the store), which the proprietor told us was an old English expression for "full bodied wine." What do you know about this?
By the way, it was very good.

Hmmmmm, I think that he could have been making that one up !!!!
I have never heard of that expression being used in that way .... though I have heard similar expressions, such as ....
"Do you want Diet Coke or do you want Fat Bastard Coke"

I've had it to and heard two other possible explanations...
-Something French I can't remember anglacized sounds like "Fat Bastard".
- from and Aus slang along the lines of "Bad Bastard" Means "Good"
Peter... help us here.

I've never heard of that one John. Although the Australian language is full of bastardized terms.
