Random thoughts directed towards those of
* The arm of US imperialism known as the US military has begun to run dry of its supply of so-called volunteers.
* The US military's use of so-called "depleted uranium" has already begun to exact a heavy physiological toll upon many of those who have "survived" combat in Iraq.
* According to the US State Dept., there were exactly twenty-five other nations throughout the world which were in the process of developing "weapons of mass destruction" at the onset of Operation Iraqi Liberation (OIL) - otherwise known as the current slaughter of Iraq; a nation of children. (fully one-half of Iraq's 23 million citizens are under the age of 15.)
* Iraq is in possession of the world's second largest source of "easily recoverable oil reserves."
* "President" George W. Bush, Vice-President Dick Chaney, and US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice are closely connected to the oil industry. (Shell Oil is so fond of Ms. Rice that it named one of its supertankers in her honor; the "Condoleeza." ) Need it be more obvious?
* During the early months of 1990, Kuwait began to steal Iraqi oil by way of "slant drilling" into Iraq's Rumana and Bubanna oil fields.
* One can only imagine the US's heavy-handed response were Mexico's PEMEX to begin slant drilling into Texas' oil fields.
* In 1989, Kuwait began to sell its oil on the international market at prices that were much lower than what OPEC members had previously agreed upon. (Kuwait was and still is an OPEC member.) This of course served to greatly jeopardize Iraq's ability to pay for its recent eight-year-long war with Iran.
* During the summer of 1990, as Iraqi troops began to assemble on the Iraq/Kuwait border, the then US ambassador to Iraq, April Glassby, stated, and I paraphrase, "The US and Kuwait do not have a mutual defense treaty. Threrfore, we [the US] will not react militarily should Iraq move to invade Kuwait."
Three days later, the then US Secretary of State, James A. Baker III, repeated this claim nearly vebatim. (Obviously both Kuwait and the US baited Iraq into its invasion of Kuwait.)
