Believe it or not, they are a DOT-legal street tire, but only just.

The rain or dirty roads isn't the problem...


The problem is when your tires are hot and drive (at slower speeds) through a dirty parking lot, or dirt/gravel road. The tire will pick up a solid layer of debris - it takes a good 3 miles to rub it all off.
