Right now, this is spot on.

I'll be in the same boat when the C6 Z06 comes out.
BTW, the base C6 is a pretty damn awesome car. If a convt. were thrown at me, I might find room for it in my garage.

Right now, maybe Alex could hook you up with a Z06 at a discount.

Right now UPS just dropped off some more cars. These will stay boxed.

Right now, I'm recalling the C6 got first (barely) and the Boxster S was 2nd. The Vette won because it's a bit faster and a much better value.

As for the shifter, the '05 Boxster S shifter is supposedly much improved over the older models (which weren't very good, IMO), but it's still a cable linkage* so it'll never compare to the S2000 (which *is* one of the best ever).

* I think it's a cable, at least...

Yup, right now you're screwed, Jack.

I guess I'll just enjoy what I have right now, and worry about the future when it comes.

23K in options?

Good God WSB, what the hell did you select? And does she polish your knob while you drive?
The killer was the ceramic brakes. Something like an $8000 option. I'd probably forego those if I were to be actually buying the car, but that'd still leave me in $68k range.

Won't those shatter under hard braking?

Right now, I'd highly recommend taking a car other than the S2000 when you go shopping. My opinions of vehicles are much better when I drive my corolla to the dealer (though it's tough to convince someone you can afford a $35,000 car when you pull up in a $1000 jalopy). And if you really want to make a car feel good... go there in a dump truck with an unsynchronized tranny.

Right now, I'm curious what it's like to drive a vehicle with an unsynchronized tranny. Do you pretty much have to double clutch every shift? I suppose you could try to time everything just right...
