Right now, I'm saying it depends on the engine configuration.

Oh, you were talking about the S - in that case, the only question is which provides the highest power at the lightest weight and still passes noise rules. Because dual outlet exhausts deal with have the air volume, they're typically quieter without any performance degradation. With lightweight materials there's not much weight advantage with a single, and you can cool fun stuff with Helmholtz resonators and crossover tubes on a dual system.

Right now, I'm letting Toe know that 135 db is not a limit - even in the late 70's I don't think our rotaries were that loud. I wouldn't be surprised if the limit was more like 115 db.

Right now, I'm noting that freeway drone doesn't bother me - that's what earplugs are for.

right now i think you are right about the db... and, well, excluding the db issue, what other concerns would you have?

(and no... i can't do earplugs.. i can't do drone either )

Right now, durability. Dual system has slightly less thermal stresses.

Honestly, there are a lot of great reasons and thousands of hours spent designing the stock exhaust. The ideal system would mimic the OEM system, with less weight due to exotic materials (Inconel, not Ti) and less restriction through the noise chambers (no change to diameters).

But right now, I'm not paid to design exhausts for the aftermarket, because I don't believe more noise = more power.

right now the last thing i want is some crazy big fart can and single out to be louder..

that's why on my civic, i had the mugen axleback.. one major factor.. it's quiet.. and it's a as-close-to-stock looking tip as possible.. not some 4" tip with blue lights flashing around it

maybe i'll stick with stock for now
