Right now, I'm installing Windows XP SP2 in my work computer...
Make sure u check any important software to make sure it's compatible. It broke our installshield software and made us lose a bunch of data after checking the setup project files in and out of source safe!

I'm pretty sure I'll be fine though, our IT folks have tested SP2 pretty thoroughly before having us install it. Also, some of my co-workers installed it a few weeks ago, and I haven't heard them complain.
Besides, we use CVS.

I know one of the designers in the company (probably all of them) has a Powerbook. But it's the old ugly one.

Right now, Mike, believe me, if I had a choice, I'd ask for a Powerbook. I'm a Java programmer, so there's no real need for me to run Windows. Hell, I can probably wipe out my hard drive and install Linux. But that would be a PITA, and I don't think that'll put me on IT's good side.
