Right now the car I agree with you on the seats. The material looked cheap, and while the gauge cluster makes sense, it's still ugly and I hate the look of the steering wheel. As for the driving experience, I don't have any gripes about the steering or the handling and the engine revs freely. The car is fun to drive. The shifter was notchy and the brakes were abrupt. My tester had something like 25 miles on it and I'm sure this had a lot to do with it as the car wasn't broken in. The road noise is intrusive and the styling is a little too "boy racer" for me. I test drove a GTI over at Pignataro within minutes of driving the Si. The GTI is superior in almost every facet except price and while both cars are new, I'm assuming the Si will have better reliability.

Right now I'll take a used TSX over both the Si and GTi. The TSX is like an S2000 with a back seat and a real trunk.

right now, the car I drove had about 5k on it. The brakes certainly had sudden initial bite, probably the pads, something easily taken care of. The engine revs very fast, which I really enjoyed...but with the funky throttle, it was hard to control. It seemed a lot more quiet than my car (given I have intake and exhaust, kind of obvious), when I commented on it being quiet the sales guy (we'll get to him in a moment) noted that the 06 had more sound deadening material...almost blurted out WTF would I want that for?!?! extra weight

I will say that the engine, while not easy to control, is a gem. If I ever end up owning one, I'll lower the vtec point to 4500-ish rpm and have a huge usable powerband.

right now, the sales guy--

produced a gem or two, such as when I asked what he thought of the differences between the earlier ap1 and the 06 ap2. He came up with the ap1 was a track-only version, and as such, he hadn't driven one, but liked the ap2 when we went out to drive the Si (and after talking about how most people don't know how to "race shift" properly) he missed 3rd big time

I think the best part of it was that I was wearing my PacNW shirt and had told him that I was interested in looking at an S and probably buying in spring sometime...and he tried so hard selling me on the Si and then after driving it and not liking it, started pushing the v6 accord coupe. I took a card and left at that point.
