right now if you're looking for luxury/sporty and not taking the car to the track, the new TT is better (IMO) than anything else that jumps to mind 
certainly for $50k, you'd be looking at much more capable pure sports cars or much more comfy luxury focused cars...the combination between the two sectors seems to be fairly well done with the TT

also right now, if the car I drove (with pretty much every option in cluding nav, full leather, heated seats, dsg, 3.2L v-6, etc) came to about $40-42k MSRP, I think audi would have a fantastic car on their hands that would also sell well...
you wouldn't want your wife to find out. 
)
