Right now saying how good a worker you are doesn’t seem to matter only thing that seems to matter is if you kiss your boss’ butt.

That is often the way it works, one reason why my wife left her last job. She has no desire to go back to that work environment / structure. The ones who get rewarded are often those who do sweet dick all. I avoided that most of my work life by being a partner and self-employed, I missed out on a lot of work benefits but my nose has never been brown and I never had to wear knee pads to get a raise
