We're going to San Diego Friday, round trip about 250 miles, to stay with Mrs. Raptor's niece and her husband who's in the Navy (my sometimes drinking buddy) for the Fourth of July weekend. We're taking her Acura MDX and the dogs. We did the same thing last July. I had last minute jobs the day we left, so I drove separately in the S. This year it's costing us more for gas to take one car than it did last year taking two.

I'm flying home to Pittsburgh in a couple of weeks to pick up an F-150 for towing the boat. It's about a 500 mile drive. When I looked at flying one-way on Saturday it was $226.00. I took a chance on Friday and the ticket was only $63.00 with fees, the total is $89.00 one way. Needless to say, I'll be spending more in gas to drive the truck home than I will to fly there and get it.
