That IS - Don't accept it. I've never had a claim/write off, but everyone I know who has has said NEVER take the first number the insurance company gives you.

Good advice. I haven't accepted it yet but that is from my own insurance, not the other party's insurance.

You may want to consider hiring a private adjuster....someone who works FOR YOU! Not the insurance companies... It will cost you a bit out of pocket but they will maximize your claim!$$$
